Steel Components for Serbia’s National Football Stadium Shipped from China, with Strict Precision Control to Eurocode EXC4 Grade

Belgrade, Serbia – A key supporting facility for the 2027 Specialised Expo, the Serbia National Football Stadium has hit a new construction milestone. The first 1,340 tonnes of steel components were shipped from China in April 2025, with the project’s total steel usage reaching around 12,600 tonnes. Built to the EN 1090-2 Eurocode and top EXC4 execution class, its main structure features a 64.4-metre roof cantilever span.

Belgrade, Serbia – Construction of the Serbia National Football Stadium has entered the preparatory phase for steel structure installation. Located in the southwestern part of Belgrade, the venue covers a total construction area of approximately 76,000 square metres and is designed to seat over 50,000 spectators, making it one of the largest sports infrastructure projects in Serbia in recent years.
The project uses a total of around 12,600 tonnes of steelwork. The main structure consists of vertical façade columns and a circular roof truss system, with a roof cantilever extending 64.4 metres – placing extremely high demands on component fabrication precision and installation quality.
In April 2025, the first shipment of 1,340 tonnes of steel components departed from Chinese ports. The project strictly adheres to the EN 1090-2 European standard and implements quality control in line with the highest EXC4 execution class.
For flange connection joints, the project team has adopted a dual control system of “3D positioning + 100% inspection”. Critical components such as roof ring beams are measured throughout fabrication using laser trackers, ensuring the machining error of every single member is kept within allowable limits.
The steel structure construction of this project is expected to serve as a benchmark example of large-scale European stadium development using Chinese-manufactured steel components built to European standards.
